Rich Maha's mainly South Indian dishes prepared the way Malaysian-lndian dishes should be - spicy, robust, fast and cheap, which explains their popularity with those seeking authentic flavours. Coconut milk, not cream or yoghurt, flavours the dishes where dry and wet curries share equal popularity. Also available are Sri lankan and vegetarian dishes as well as a variety of hawker favourites Nelson Ganesh and brothers Kratan and Bala Subragan established Rich Maha four years ago and it has been a hit since.
Our open plan kitchen allows you to see how food is prepared. See your order of roti canai ($4, with dhall) or ghee thosai ($4, with sambal/chutney) made before your eyes. Specialities include the popular Malaysian fish head and crab curry, dry fry chicken 65 ($10.50, cooked with dry chilli, onion, coconut milk) and dry fry mutton ($10.50). Try the lunch special ($8) of meat and two vegies, or the Saturday and Sunday special of chicken/mutton briyani ($8) both dine in or takeaway. You won't be disappointed. It's Hopper Night every Tuesday from 5 to 10pm, so book early. The restaurant has seating for about 100, and is BYO with no corkage charge.
